As Rising Construction Services, Inc. turns 1 in November, we look at how the company has since developed its own identity as a women-owned business serving construction contractors in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.

Last year, PlanGrid, an Autodesk company, released an article titled Level the Jobsite: Why the World Needs More Women in Construction ( https://blog.plangrid.com/2018/03/level-the-jobsite-why-the-world-needs-more-women-in-construction-infographic/ ), detailing the need and benefits of women-owned  construction companies. We, at Rising Construction Services, Inc., could not agree more and our initial story cements that.

On November 9, 2018, Rising Construction Services, Inc. was founded by Kristen Rising with a simple goal in mind: provide local contractors with exceptional service.  It is not only a mindset, but it is also our corporate mission.

Using the experience she accumulated from the industry itself, Kristen saw opportunity for traffic control rentals in Kansas City.  What did she see? Potential market share would seem to be the obvious answer to that question. However, that is only a portion of the story.

She also envisioned on separating herself from her competitors from top to bottom.  By placing an emphasis on customer satisfaction and internal efficiency, Kristen has molded Rising Construction Services, Inc. to ensure that it is a long-term solution for Kansas City contractors.

As an example of this new-found strategy, Kristen made an emphasis on the digital.  For example, we are pleased to offer our customers the ability to pay electronically.  This allows the contractor to make a safe and secure payment without the need of printing and mailing out checks, thus saving time and material.

Based on her guidance, we’re also utilizing a cloud-based inventory management system that not only certifies accurate stock count, but also drives communication between team members.  The system healthily promotes discussion between relevant departments to eliminate any potential internal bottlenecks.

As stated in the aforementioned article, “only 9.1% of women compose the construction workforce in the US, and it is far from an individual country issue” (PlanGrid, 2018).  Rising Construction Services, Inc. is looking forward to not only changing that, but also promoting the general spirit of women-owned businesses across the corporate spectrum.

With that in mind, we are pleased to announce we are certified as both a Small Local Business Enterprise (SBLE) by the City of Kansas City, Missouri and as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WOBE) by the State of Missouri.

We are currently in the process of applying to both the City of Kansas City, Missouri and the State of Kansas to be certified as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE).

We’re proud of the work our team has done so far.  We’ll continue to serve local contractors, while establishing not only the necessity, but the potency of women-owned businesses in all fields.
